Net zero is not enough

From 06/07/2021 14:00:00 to 06/07/2021 15:00:00 local time
  • Climate science is clear: the rapid heating up of Earth’s atmosphere is directly proportional to the total amount of carbon dioxide released by human activities, past and present.

The UK Government recognises that climate change is an existential threat and has legislated to achieve “net zero” greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

But is net zero enough? Or is it too little too late? If not, what needs to be done to ensure a sustainable planet beyond 2050? Achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 is an urgent priority, but it’s not the end goal.

As a waste and resource management company that has landfill, EFW, and other treatment facilities in our portfolio, SUEZ recycling and recovery UK is working proactively to bring waste minimisation further up the regulatory and public agenda.

This 60-minute webinar will emphasise the need to do more in the little time we have left. Even if we reach the Paris Accord goal of net zero by 2050, it won’t change the fact that global temperatures are already 1C warmer than the last century.

Free to attend, this webinar aims to:

    • Draw on the insights / experiences / guidance of an expert industry panel, as well as the perspectives of stakeholders and attendees
    • Provide peer-to-peer discussion and learning opportunities
    • Generate ideas and solutions for both achieving net zero by 2050 and maintaining a sustainable and habitable planet beyond.
