The mission: Reduce clear sack costs and give plastic waste a more useful purpose

Vaultex uses clear sacks each day as part of routine waste handling across its centres. Iver time, the ongoing cost of purchasing these sacks had become a growing pressure.

The business also wanted to find a more sustainable alternative, but not at the expense of practicality. Any replacement needed to be reliable, durable and easy for teams to adopt within existing ways of working.

Our solution: Turn plastic waste into new sacks and keep the process familiar for Vaultex teams

SUEZ worked with Vaultex to recover suitable plastic waste and convert it into new clear sacks made from 100% recycled plastic.

Before introducing the sacks more widely, samples were tested in live working environments to make sure they performed as effectively as the original versions. Feedback was positive, giving Vaultex confidence to move forward.

The new sacks were then introduced through existing supply arrangements, allowing teams to make the switch with minimal disruption.

The results: Lower costs, a circular approach and a clear sustainability gain

The initiative delivered a 64% reduction in sack costs while helping Vaultex reuse part of its own plastic waste in a practical and visible way.

Vaultex now uses sacks made from 100% recycled plastic, showing how everyday operational products can support circular thinking as well as commercial performance.

From October 2025, more than 14,200 bags had been processed, with further material expected to be recycled.

Through our ongoing collaboration with SUEZ, we’ve turned waste from being an afterthought to an opportunity to innovate. In this project, SUEZ and their supplier developed a product that would be a like-for-like swap, ensuring the sack made from 100% recycled content was as strong and durable as the sack made from virgin materials. This was reassuring as we didn’t want to have something that would negatively impact our operations. The project also provided significant cost savings, making it not only an environmental win, but a commercial win for us too.
