SUEZ revitalises staff room at King’s College Hospital children’s ward
The room, which is used every day by the ward’s healthcare professionals, had become dated, with worn furniture and bare walls.
Recognising the importance of a comfortable and functional break space for staff, SUEZ’s Leah Poultney, Vaughan Fountain and Gemma Dickens, prepared and repainted the walls in a calming colour, added new shelving for kitchen equipment, and introduced simple décor to create a brighter and more welcoming atmosphere.
The transformation was made possible thanks to the support of PwC UK, who generously donated new furniture, and Compass Group, who provided additional items to complete the refresh.
The result is a warm and inviting space where hospital staff can take well-earned breaks during their demanding shifts.
Staff on the ward were quick to share their appreciation for the improvement, describing the new-look room as a “breath of fresh air.”
Commenting on the initiative, SUEZ account director, Leah Poultney said: “The healthcare professionals at King’s College Hospital go above and beyond every single day. We were pleased to work with our partners PwC and Compass to make this happen, and to contribute in a small way to supporting the wellbeing of the team on the Lions Ward.”
Compass Group’s Medirest Contract manager, Carina Franco, said: “It was delightful to be a part of the ward refresh in the Lions Ward. SUEZ and our team here at Kings did an amazing job for the hard-working nurses in the children’s ward. To get new furniture donated from PwC made the room a relaxing and calm place for the team to take moments away from their shifts.”
Sister Ella, ward manager at Kings College Hospital, added: “Our staff spend so much of their time caring for others, often in high-pressure situations, so having a comfortable space to take a break is incredibly valuable. We’re extremely grateful to SUEZ, PwC and Compass for their generosity and hard work in revitalising our staff room – it has made a real difference to morale on the ward.”
