Bideford School gets ready for the new term
Whilst school was out for Summer a team from the Bideford and Seven Brethren Recycling Centres working alongside Pete and Vicky Knight, from G&P Services cleared a whole over grown forest section of the school grounds to improve an already existing BMX cycle track. Fences were painted and the grounds around the track landscaped to create an exciting new area which aims to provide students with a safe and fun space for physical activity as they return to school after the summer holidays.
SUEZ volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clear the designated areas of debris and overgrowth and then with the help of colleagues, collected and transported the green waste to a local composting facility run by Coastal Waste, who accepted the waste free of charge, providing a sustainable solution to all of the debris.
“We’re thrilled to partner with East-the-Water Primary school and work on projects that make a real difference to the local community.” Robbie Andrews, Area Supervisor for SUEZ “The BMX bike track is a fantastic way to encourage children to engage in outdoor activities and develop their cycling skills. Our team is proud to contribute to the well-being of the children’’
The BMX bike track is officially open and already welcoming students back to school with the promise of adventure and fun.
Head Teacher Adam Bukeridge said ‘’Nurturing active lifestyles amongst children is crucial for their development, and this project exemplifies how working with our local community can help benefit the school and it’s students. I want to say a huge thank you to the team of volunteers from SUEZ, the work they have done is invaluable.’
