SUEZ technical expert appointed to PackUK’s Scheme Administrator Steering Group
Established to act as a “critical friend” and strategic advisory body to the Scheme Administrator Executive Committee, the SASG will provide expert oversight and recommendations on the operational functions of the pEPR scheme, as well as ensuring it is implemented with transparency, technical rigour, and cross-industry collaboration.
By bringing together voices from across the packaging value chain, the group will also ensure the system creates maximum environmental benefit for both producers and local authorities.
Said Stuart: "I am incredibly pleased to join PackUK’s Scheme Administrator Steering Group, which will play a key role in creating a more resource efficient UK. The rollout of pEPR is one of the most significant environmental reforms of our time and as such should be undertaken with the highest standards of scrutiny and expertise. We must ensure we build a system that is not only operationally robust but also provides the clear incentives needed to design out waste and keep resources in use for longer. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across the value chain to deliver a truly world-class scheme."
Stuart’s appointment to the Steering Group follows his ongoing commitment to several other high-level strategic bodies, further cementing his role as a leading voice in the UK’s transition to a circular economy. In addition to this new role, Stuart continues to serve on:
- The Defra Circular Economy Taskforce: An independent expert advisory group established to co-design the government’s first comprehensive strategy for a circular economy in England.
- The Efficiency and Effectiveness Technical Advisory Committee (E&E TAC): Stuart sits as a key member of this specialist committee. The E&E TAC is responsible for helping define what "efficient and effective" waste management looks like in practice. It provides input onto the technical benchmarks and best-practice recommendations
