SUEZ staff rally to support local pet charity with recycling drive

Pet loving staff at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK’s Landor Street site in Birmingham have come together to support sick and injured animals by donating over 100kg of clothing and shoes to the The People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA).

The donation drive was part of a two-week textile amnesty campaign, where employees were encouraged to recycle their unwanted clothes, shoes, and DVDs. The initiative not only helped a great cause but also raised awareness among staff about the importance of reuse and recycling.

The collection was donated to the local PDSA branch, which provides vital veterinary care for pets whose owners are struggling financially. With many team members being pet owners themselves – and even having helped re-home stray cats from Landor Street in the past – the cause was close to their hearts.

In total, staff donated over 250 items of clothing, 100kg of textiles, and four boxes of DVDs that will now be resold to raise funds for the charity.

Steve Daniels, Operations Manager at SUEZ said: "This was a fantastic effort by the whole team, and we’re thrilled to support a charity that does so much for animals in need. It also highlights how simple actions like donating unwanted clothes can make a real difference – both for the environment and for good causes."

Lloyd Hughes, Head of Retail and Buying at PDSA, added: "We’re incredibly grateful to the team at SUEZ for their generous donation. The funds raised from selling these items will go directly towards providing essential veterinary care for pets in need. Donations like this make a huge difference in helping us continue our vital work."
