All hands on deck as SUEZ volunteers support Calvert Devon

Volunteers from SUEZ have rolled up their sleeves to give the outdoor decking and railings at Calvert Devon a much‑needed makeover—helping to ensure that visitors of all abilities can safely enjoy the beauty of the charity’s accessible activity centre.

Calvert Devon is a leading charity in the Southwest dedicated to making outdoor adventure inclusive for everyone. The centre provides a safe, supportive environment where people with disabilities or additional needs can experience the thrill of activities such as horse riding, canoeing, cycling, climbing, and more.

As part of their ongoing commitment to community support for the trust, a team of SUEZ volunteers spent the day restoring and refreshing one of the centre’s key outdoor seating and viewing areas. The work included cleaning, sanding, and re‑treating the decking and handrails, giving the well‑used space a fresh new lease of life in time for the busy spring and summer season.

The improvements help ensure that guests, many of whom rely on mobility aids, can enjoy the area with confidence, comfort, and safety. The spruced‑up space also enhances the welcome for families, carers, and groups who come to Calvert Devon to share in the joy of adventure and the restorative power of the outdoors.

Robbie Andrews, Area Supervisor at SUEZ, who coordinated the volunteering said, “We’re delighted to support Calvert Devon and the incredible work they do to open up the outdoors for everyone. Our team had a fantastic day volunteering, and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts will help create a more enjoyable and accessible environment for visitors.”

Jennifer Young, Centre Director at Calvert Devon, said. “We are extremely grateful to the team from SUEZ. As a charity, we really value the help of volunteers to create a welcoming environment for our visitors, projects like this make a real difference to our guests.’’

SUEZ has been supporting the Calvert Trust in Devon with coordinated volunteer days for the last 04 years and have helped to develop a Sustainable Wild Activity Garden as well as renovating the visitors car park, Painting bedrooms, clearing gutters, digging out the read bed, landscaping and weeding the central courtyard.
