Borrow, don’t buy: Share Bristol’s latest Library of Things boosted by local SUEZ reuse donation

SUEZ, who operates the Revive Reuse Shop in Thornbury on behalf of South Gloucestershire Council has donated a large range of quality second hand household and DIY items to Share Bristol’s newly opened Library of Things in Winterbourne.

This is Share Bristol’s fourth location across Bristol and South Gloucestershire enabling residents to borrow equipment—such as electric drills, pressure washers and gardening tools—instead of buying new.

Share Bristol, a charity dedicated to making useful items accessible and affordable for everyone, offers its members the opportunity to borrow tools and household equipment at a fraction of the cost of purchasing. This helps people save money and reduce consumption, as well as preventing unnecessary waste, and ensuring valuable materials stay in circulation for longer. Supporting a thriving circular economy in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

The items were donated from reuse donations made by South Gloucestershire residents at the council’s recycling centres, helping to extend product life, and give back to the community. The donation forms part of SUEZ’s wider commitment to help build resilient, circular communities by ensuring good quality second hand items are put to continued use.

Judith Gordon, Reuse Hub Supervisor, said: “Our shop, and the reuse donation points at the recycling centres, give household items another chance by helping to save them from becoming waste before their time is up. We want to provide affordable items to the community and supporting organisations like Share Bristol means these benefits stretch even further. Through our donations, we’re helping residents save money, reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable local economy.”

Anna Perry, Chair of Trustees, Share Bristol added: “We’re so grateful and absolutely delighted to receive this generous donation from SUEZ. It means we can help even more people borrow the things they need but don’t use every day. These new additions join thousands of other useful items available to borrow across our four locations in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. By helping residents borrow instead of buying new items, the partnership supports South Gloucestershire’s environmental ambitions and demonstrates the value of collaboration.
