The one-hour guided tours will take place at:
During the tours, visitors can learn about the “everyday history” of waste collection, walk around the sites while they are closed to the public, and discover how waste is managed and recycled across Southend.
Guests will also have the chance to:
- Learn which materials can be recycled at the HWRCs
- Visit information stands on waste and recycling
- See inside SUEZ waste collection vehicles
- Ask questions and meet the teams responsible for managing Southend’s waste services
James Gatter, Contract Manager, said: “Most people use a recycling centre without ever seeing what goes on behind the scenes. These tours are a fantastic opportunity for residents to discover the journey of their waste, learn more about recycling, and meet the people who help keep Southend clean every day.”
Places are limited and advance booking is required via Eventbrite. Residents interested in attending are encouraged to secure their place early to avoid disappointment.
Book now and discover the hidden world of Southend’s waste and recycling service.
