Dr Adam Read in his position as, Vice President of CIWM, explores how far he waste & resources sector has come in the last decade, and where the sector may be in 2030?
The importance of the environment has never been so visible to the general public, businesses and the media; with increasing government policy reform, new environmental targets, the promise of a green recovery and increased consumer interest in environmental responsibility, the resource management sector will play a pivotal role in decarbonising the UK in the next 10 years. So how can the sector drive this change, whilst at the same time adapting to meet the needs and demands of those sectors we support and work with. Topics will include the need for green skills, the role of green transition plans, the opportunity for new accreditation and appropriate regulation, and reflection on what materials will be needed by growth sectors over the coming decade, and how likely it will be that we can meet their needs.
