A home goal for charity!
On Saturday 12 July 2025, teams from SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK took part in a charity football match to raise over £900 for charity. The funds will be split equally between SUEZ UKs two cooperate charity partners, Macmillan Cancer Support and British Heart Foundation.
Hosting their fourth annual football match for charity, SUEZ depots across the Southwest battled it out to become the 2025 tournament winners. Supported by local football club, St Martins AFC in Exminster, who kindly offered their pitches for the event, staff and supporters were delighted to have raised so much for charity.
Teams entered from across the Southwest and included SUEZ staff from East Devon, Thorverton Road, Williton (Somerset), Central (Somerset), Devon and Cornwall HWRC's and Weston-Super-Mare.
Craig Hooper, Williton Depot Manager at SUEZ said: “ It was great to be able to organise this year’s event, the money we raise for charity will help to support them in continuing to do the amazing work they do every day.’’
“ It is always a great pleasure to take part in these events’ said Layton Hucker, Regional Wellbeing and Inclusion Officer at SUEZ. ‘Having the opportunity to be outside, despite this year’s hot weather, taking part in sports and being with your work colleagues in a fun environment, is so important for people’s wellbeing. We hope that the tournament continues for many years to come.”
SUEZ’s Somerset contract team have organised an annual football match since 2021, which have raised over £2,500 for charity. The depot at Thorverton Road have raised over £700 alone in sponsorships over the two years they have taken part.
Dominic Cullip, Senior Site Manager at SUEZ said: “ I am really proud of my team for coming together and raising a significant amount of money for our charities. Thanks to all our family and friends for sponsoring us! The football tournament is a great way to bond with our colleagues in a friendly, if not slightly competitive, environment!”
