Local scout group talk all things rubbish!

The 1st Stoke Gifford(OSR) Scouts, recently embarked on an educational journey to explore the importance of recycling and sustainability.

On Saturday 07 June the Scouts from Stoke Gifford gathered at their local Yate depot of SUEZ recycling and recovery UK to find out what happens to their waste and recycling. They took part in hands-on workshops designed to teach them about recycling methods, waste reduction strategies like reuse, and the overall impact of waste on the environment. The sessions led by Charlie Temblett, Assistant Contract Compliance Officer, assisted by colleagues Shane Reed, and Chris Hooper, provided engaging activities and demonstrations to help the scouts understand the recycling process.

“We believe it is vital for our scouts to understand their role in protecting the environment,” said Phelpsie Scout Leader “This workshop not only provided them with valuable knowledge but also inspired them to take action in their own communities.”

Throughout the morning scouts engaged in sorting recyclable materials, learning how the kerbside recycling is collected, and how reuse can play a big part in reducing waste. The day ended with discussions on how they can inspire their families and friends to recycle and reuse more.

Charlie Temblett, Assistant Contract Compliance Officer at SUEZ said ‘Community engagement is key for us at SUEZ , our commitment to environmental education is important and it’s always a pleasure to organise and take part in workshops, volunteer days, and local community litter pick events throughout the year. ‘
