SUEZ and Maidstone Borough Council join forces to inspire young recyclers
Our Mid Kent team recently came together with Maidstone Borough Council to deliver an interactive assembly at Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Parkwood.
The visit was part of our ongoing partnership with the Council to promote better household recycling across the borough.
The assembly, delivered to the whole school, covered the importance of recycling, what happens to waste once it’s collected, and how to avoid contamination. Students were full of enthusiasm and impressed us with their knowledge!
Key messages shared included:
- No plastic bags in the recycling bin
- Recyclables must be clean and empty
- Batteries and vapes should never go in household bins
- Nappies go in general waste - not recycling (this sparked some giggles!)
It was a fun session, with lots of energy and curiosity from the children. Commenting on the visit, Partnership and Community Engagement Coordinator Atlanta Giddings-Wilson, said: “The pupils were really engaged and asked some great questions. You could tell they already take recycling seriously at home – and they were very keen to learn more. It’s rewarding to see how much difference we can make by starting these conversations early.”
