Thinking outside of the horse box!
The Centre supports Disabled and disadvantaged people to access the therapeutic benefits of horses and nature. It often holds fun competitions for its participants as well as community events, and the new mobile café will be a very useful addition.
The horse box, once used for transporting horses, has been transformed into a vibrant refreshment van that will serve refreshments at various events, enabling the charity to raise funds for to support their therapeutic activities, while offering a welcoming space for the community. The project not only revives a piece of equipment but also highlights the importance of recycling and reusing materials to promote sustainability.
“Our mission is to show how reuse and recycling can have a positive impact on the community,” said Joe Pusey, Partnership and Community Engagement Manager. “By repurposing this horse box, we are not only reducing waste but also supporting a wonderful charity that empowers individuals with disabilities.”
The makeover coordinated by Russell Dally, Regional Maintenance Manager at SUEZ ensures that the renovations meet health and safety standards, as well as enhancing its appearance to create an inviting environment. Features of the refreshment van include a serving window, built-in storage, and a counter area to ensure that everyone can enjoy the service. ‘We reached out to our suppliers for support on this project and were delighted with the response, everyone has worked hard to make this a real success’ said Russell.
The official unveiling of the refreshment van took place at the Avon Centre with Kim Langbridge, the Avon Centre’s Therapeutic Programme Manager who said ‘we’re so delighted with all of the volunteers SUEZ have provided over the last 12 months. They’ve not only created this amazing transformation of the horse box but have painted buildings, mended fences, provided furniture and cleared some of the grounds, all to enhance the experience of the people that visit us here.’
