Blackburn's Christmas Family Fun Day promises games, crafts, a Santa's grotto, reindeers and a Reuse Shop full of bargains
The returning free event brings together a wide range of Christmas attractions including games, crafts, a bouncy castle, Santa’s Grotto, a reindeer simulator and festive treats for all ages. As one of the biggest community events in the Youth Zone calendar, the day reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe, welcoming and inspiring space for young people and their families. Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone supports thousands of children and young people every year, offering somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to, and events like this help bring the whole community together in celebration.
A special new addition for 2025 is SUEZ recycling and recovery UK’s pop-up re-use shop, offering a wide range of good quality preloved items at low cost to support families in the lead-up to Christmas. Items include children’s toys, games and puzzles, books, stocking fillers and festive gift ideas. All items have been donated at local Household Waste and Recycling Centres and carefully prepared for resale, helping families keep Christmas affordable and giving reusable items a meaningful second life.
Victoria Crabtree, Regional Manager at SUEZ, said: “The Christmas Family Fun Day is set to be a great day, and our team are looking forward to showing how re-use can support local families, especially at Christmas time. Our teams have been setting aside toys and gifts throughout the year so we can bring a fantastic selection of items to the community, which are still full of life and available at a very low price. We are proud to play a small part in making the festive season more accessible for everyone.”
Tamara Hitchen, Events & Stewardship Lead at Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, said: “We’re incredibly proud to host the Christmas Family Fun Day each year – it’s a highlight of our calendar and a chance for families across Blackburn and Darwen to come together and celebrate without worrying about cost. The event shows the real impact of strong community partnerships, and we’re thrilled to have our patron SUEZ on board with their fantastic pop-up re-use shop. Their support helps make the festive season more affordable, more sustainable and more joyful for local families.”
The free event is taking place on Saturday 13 December from 12 to 5pm at Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, Jubilee Street, Blackburn, BB1 1EP. The event is open to the public in two split sessions: 12 to 2pm and 2.30 to 4.30pm, ensuring families have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout the day.
