Giving something back

Outdoor learning comes to life at Little Stoke Primary School

Children at Little Stoke Primary School are enjoying new opportunities to learn, play and explore thanks to recently donated bikes and outdoor resources that are already making a big difference both in and out of the classroom.

Reception pupils have been making the most of new bikes and scooters, developing essential balance and coordination skills while having fun in the fresh air. The equipment is helping to build children’s strength and confidence. For many pupils who do not have access to gardens at home, the chance to ride, balance and play outdoors is especially valuable.

Older pupils have also left their mark on the school grounds with the creation of a vibrant Bug Hotel, designed and built by Year 6 students as a lasting legacy for future generations. Working collaboratively, the children designed and constructed different levels of the habitat, creatively using donated flower pots, wooden pallets and bricks to make miniature bug rooms.

Jenny Ratcliffe, Forest School leader at Little Stoke Primary School said: "the donations that SUEZ made have made these projects possible, outdoor learning plays a crucial role in supporting children’s physical development. A huge thanks to SUEZ in helping the children at Little Stoke Primary get the best education, both inside and outside the classroom."

Mike Wildman, Regional Manager said: "Supporting local schools with items from the Revive Reuse shop in Thornbury, is a great example of the circular economy in action. We’re delighted these materials are helping Little Stoke Primary School create meaningful outdoor learning experiences for their pupils."
