SUEZ signs open letter to UK Government urging for the publication of the delayed Circular Economy Growth Plan

SUEZ joined 50 leading businesses, trade associations and professional bodies including CIWM and the Green Alliance, urging the Government to publish the delayed Circular Economy Growth Plan.

The letter was sent to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary of State Emma Reynolds and warns that ongoing delay "will harm momentum towards a more resilient, resource efficient economy."

At a time of heightened economic insecurity and cost of living pressures, the Circular Economy Growth Plan should outline a clear direction from the government on accelerating changes proven to cut costs, improve competitiveness and enhance industrial performance. Its publication is important to give confidence for investment in new circular solutions.

Dr Adam Read MBE, Chief External Affairs and Sustainability Officer for SUEZ in the UK said: “The ongoing delay to the Circular Economy Growth Plan is not only delaying positive action for the environment, it’s delaying good news for the economy too. We know that the circular model brings with it a £25 billion economic boost and 470,000 new jobs by 2035. The resources industry is on the same page and we need Government to back that with a plan that gives confidence to those looking to invest in new circular solutions if we are going to drive that change.”
